GLOBE Model Short Course
Global General Equilibrium Modelling with GAMS and GTAP

There are two elements to the course:
- Pre course training: a study programme based on a series of structured exercises.
The programme consists of three components:
- A practical introduction to the GAMS programming language;
- An introduction to CGE modelling using a closed economy model;
- An introduction to modelling trade using the Armington 'insight'.
Participants should begin working on the exercises two months prior to the course;
the exercises should take up to 40 hours. Additional support can be provided by email
and Skype.
- Short course: an intensive period involving a mix of lectures, structured computer
exercises, policy experiments, the interpretation of results and informal support.
The short course consists of three parts:
- The first part uses a single country model to examine within country relationships.
- The second part concentrates on the modelling of global trade relationships.
- The third part consists of group projects that involve the replication and extension
of prior studies. The group projects will be based on one or more of the following
variants:
- GLOBE for 'standard' trade scenarios;
- GLOBE_EN for energy and carbon emission scenarios; and
- GLOBE_MIG for labour migration scenarios.
